The Hotham Wedding

A friendly union at beautiful venue near Ascot on a raceday. This was a great little job I was commissioned by a previous client's mum! The mother of the bride liked our work so much that we were booked immediately for her up-coming wedding.

My impromptu workstation

The ceremony and reception venue were a convenient 10ft from each other with my equipment stationed one floor up in the master suite. This allowed me to get the bulk of the editing done on the day. The advantage of rough editing on the day, apart from the obvious turn around speed boost, is that you know what the best shots and best moments were, you have no chance to forget anything. In regards to editing I try and select the best shots and rough edit on the day as much as possible while it's still fresh in my mind.

Classic selfie

My rough edit (in Adobe Premiere) is usually a chronologically linear timeline with no audio. I'll then polish it up over the next fews days, I usually add the 2 or 3 tracks of music and edit the visuals to the audio. I'll only use audio from the day if its the vows or something very special. I have my Rode videomic pro on at all times just in case I catch something cool. Getting a bit nerdy now but the AGC on my 600D means I have to make sure my audio control is on manual and I only turn it up about 4 stops.

The beautiful couple

The client chose the wonderful music and only had a couple of changes, namely including guests in the video. This actually caused me to change my process slightly, I now make sure I get a usable shot of everyone at the reception. Safety first! 128900534

From the bride: "Thank you very much for all your hard work in creating a moving memory of our perfect day that we can watch again and again."
